SCS Overview
SCS is a patented mechanical brushing technology that enhances the value of hot rolled strip, making it a better material for fabricators and OEMs. This environmentally-friendly process gives hot rolled black sheets or coils a clean, rust-resistant ‘cold rolled’ surface ready for fabrication or painting. SCS-processed steel can provide manufacturers advantages in cost, quality and environmental impact for making products as diverse as saw blades, welded tubes and rail cars.
This section of the web site uses animations and video clips to explain how SCS technology works. Visit each of these pages for full details:
Lab Test Report
SCS has undergone
thorough testing of its
metallurgical properties,
manufacturing applications
and corrosion resistance
(paint performance). The
more formal laboratory
test results are compiled in
a single report shown here.
It is a useful reference for
fabricators and finishers who
are working with SCS for the
first time. The latest version
can be downloaded in Adobe
pdf format from THIS LINK.
Several of the tests were conducted using conventional hot band, HRPO or CRS side-by-side with the SCS. This affords direct comparison of SCS with the most commonly used flat rolled steels.
