More Flexible Sourcing

How many types of steel do you buy?
Hot rolled black for its low price ?
HRPO for protection from rust ?
Pickled dry to avoid HRPO's oil ?
     CRS for surface quality ?

SCS users enjoy greater inventory flexibility. They only need to buy SCS, instead of both hot rolled black and HRPO, yet they can produce higher quality products from this streamlined inventory.

SCS users also enjoy greater sourcing flexibility. If you buy steel in volume and have it toll processed to your specs, using SCS opens more options for sourcing that steel. How ? Since you only need to buy hot rolled black, you can buy from integrated mills or mini-mills, domestic or foreign, and still get great results, time after time.

SCS users can often use secondary steel. Premium products usually require premium steel, but SCS processing often takes secondary coils and transforms them into coils or sheets that are clean, smooth and ready for use in demanding applications (see Material Recovery.)

The graphic at the right lists only a few examples of products that had been made from hot band, HRPO or pickled dry, but are now made – and made better – from SCS.
